Peter knows the transformative power of storytelling.
Growing up, he was at home in a progressive community theatre group, which gave him a chance to hone a quick wit and strong improvisation skills. As he devised new work, Peter’s uncanny ear for dialogue and accents was recognised. In truth, though, it was his understanding of, and empathy for, other people that informed his characterisations.
It was therefore a natural choice for Peter to balance his acting training with a course in Community Theatre and Theatre in Education. He worked face-to-face with disenfranchised young people to build their trust and self confidence, allowing them to tell their own stories.
As an actor, Peter is drawn to intense dramas that offer the chance of catharsis; whether it’s a spare, muscular classic or up-to-the-moment political intrigue. Which might not sound like much fun: luckily Peter’s dry humour and distrust of pomposity are always close at hand.
His passion for television extends further—from the mainstream to the downright obscure. Peter’s got a strong knowledge of the television landscape across the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States.
At Flying Workshop, Peter is most often in demand for his originality, acute judgement, his sense of comedy, and knack for dialogue. He’s also great at puncturing any lapses into pomposity!
